"WE ADAPT OR WE PERISH"
Dr. Elvin Stakman, Professor at the University of Minnesota who inspired Dr. Borlaug to pursue his life's work
LEADING BY DOING
Norman Borlaug led the world away from starvation using practical applications of his big ideas. He was one of the first scientists to get his hands dirty working in the field. Borlaug led the way to his legacy by example.
"I BELIEVE IN TAKING THE BEST GRAIN WE HAVE AT ANY TIME AND GROWING IT. WE DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY OF TIME TO LET YOUNG SCIENTISTS TELL US THAT THIS GRAIN LOOKS PROMISING, SO LET'S TEST IT. WE HAVE TO GROW WHAT WE HAVE. WE CAN TEST LATER. WE NEED FOOD PRODUCTION NOW, TODAY."
